(not so) little red wagon
before i had children of my own, my memories of red wagons were pretty classic: little, metal, and with a little black, metal handle to pull them. i think that's what i had as a kid, and i figured not much had changed. little did i know that wagons now are much more high-tech! i think they are the children's version of SUVs. we wanted to get one for jack for christmas, but decided it wasn't a good christmas gift (given that we wouldn't be able to use it for 4+ months until spring came). our neighbors tipped us off this past week, though, that the wagon they have for their son and love was on sale at target, and that it was a good price. so off mike goes on friday night, at about 9:45pm, to get the wagon before the sale ended and we left for iowa city. i won't say how much wagons cost these days, but suffice it to say that they are WAY more than you might imagine. however, you can't help but be tantalized by all they offer! this thing has a big canopy, so i won't have to worry about being out in the direct sun too long. it has front wheels that turn 360 degrees, for maximum turning capacity. it has two fold out seats for kids to sit down lower inside the wagon, as well as 4 cup holders for the kids. the handle goes up to my chest, so even the tallest parent can't complain about having to bend over while pulling it around. and it has an added storage bin, to boot. it might seem strange that a wagon would need a storage bin, but i do admit that when we have 2 kids riding around in it, it will be nice to have an extra spot to stash picnic stuff for the park, etc. the craziest thing is that this version wasn't even the most "luxury" version out there. there are others! one is called the ultimate family voyager, or something like that. i have no idea what it could possibly offer that this one doesn't.... built in ipod dock and speakers?? solar-powered cruise control?? sheesh. but we are now set for summer outings!

Love the wagon. I see ours is already out-to-date. I wish we had an extra storage bin, that will come in handy. Jack will have to stop by and show Jaxson his new "wheels."
